Hangman is a guessing game where one player (the host) thinks of a word, phrase, or other item, and the other player(s) (the guesser(s)) try to guess what it is by suggesting letters.
The game starts with the host secretly choosing a word or phrase, and drawing a number of blank spaces on a piece of paper or a board, representing the letters in the word. The guesser(s) then take turns suggesting letters, trying to guess the word.
For each incorrect letter guessed, the host draws one element of a hangman diagram - a gallows with a noose, and the parts of a hanging man. As the diagram is gradually filled in, the guesser(s) get closer and closer to being "hanged".
The guesser(s) continue suggesting letters until they either correctly guess all the letters to reveal the word (in which case they win), or the full hangman diagram is completed (in which case the host wins).
Hangman can be played with pencil and paper, or using an online or digital version. It's a simple but engaging game that tests vocabulary, deductive reasoning, and luck. The game can be made more challenging by using longer or more obscure words, or by having multiple players take turns guessing.
